Investment Committee Members
Mr. Foyston is the Chairman of Navis and an Investment Committee member. Mr. Foyston performs a variety of firm-wide leadership roles. His time is focused on public equity activities. Together with Patrick Russell, Mr. Foyston conceived and established the Navigator, Al-Bahhar and Yield Funds and is closely involved in their ongoing management.
Prior to co-founding Navis, Mr. Foyston was a senior executive with The Boston Consulting Group, where he worked in BCG's Boston, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur offices and was responsible for building and leading BCG's Asia (ex-Japan) practice.
Mr. Foyston has been a resident in Asia since 1987, having been raised primarily in Canada. He graduated from Queen's University (Canada) with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and has an MBA from Harvard Business School and holds the designation of Canadian Chartered Accountant (CA).
Mr. Bloy is one of two Managing Partners of Navis and an Investment Committee member.
At Navis, Mr. Bloy leads investment teams, works with company management and sits on the boards of a number of portfolio companies. He is also responsible for fundraising.
Mr. Bloy co-founded Navis after spending ten years in Asia with The Boston Consulting Group, where he held various positions, including managing partner of the Kuala Lumpur office, Head of The Boston Consulting Group's Energy and Utilities Practice in Asia, and Head of The Boston Consulting Group's Asia Marketing Committee.
Mr. Bloy has worked throughout Asia in a wide range of industries including consumer and industrial goods, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, electronics and financial services. Mr. Bloy has been a resident in Asia since 1988, having been raised in England and France. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Hons degree from University College, London, and an MBA from INSEAD.
Mr. Muse is one of two Managing Partners of Navis and an Investment Committee member.
At Navis, Mr. Muse leads investment teams in making, monitoring and exiting investments and sits on the boards and/or executive committees of several Navis portfolio companies.
Mr. Muse co-founded Navis in 1998 with Messrs. Bloy and Foyston with whom he worked while at The Boston Consulting Group. At BCG, he worked in Sydney and Kuala Lumpur, where he gained experience in a number of industries including consumer goods, retail, oil and gas, distribution, primary resources and others. He started his career with Chase Manhattan Bank in 1985 and worked in a number of areas of the bank in New York and Hong Kong.
Mr. Muse has been a resident in Asia since 1993, having been raised and educated in the US. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Hons degree from St. Lawrence University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Mr. Seghin is a Senior Partner of Navis based in Hong Kong and an Investment Committee member. Mr. Seghin joined Navis in 2003 where he focuses on originating, executing and enhancing investments in Greater China and India.
Mr. Seghin is responsible for a number Navis portfolio companies including Sky Gourmets, Trimco, Hui Lau Shan, Trio, Sah, Classic Stripes and Amazon Papyrus. Mr. Seghin joined Navis from Quilvest Asia Limited. Prior Hong Kong experience includes founding Cortez Capital Limited, and working at Euro Pacific Advisers Ltd., a fund management company affiliated with the Credit Agricole Group. Mr. Seghin also worked at Drexel Burnham Lambert in Tokyo.
Mr. Seghin has been a resident in Asia since the mid 1980's, having been raised and educated in Belgium and Japan. He graduated from Université Catholique de Louvain in Belgium with a law degree and an MBA through an exchange program with Sophia University in Tokyo.
Mr. Ireland is a Senior Partner of Navis based in Thailand and an Investment Committee member. Mr. Ireland joined Navis in 2001 where he focuses on investments in Thailand and Vietnam and has been involved in transactions across South East Asia and Australia.
Mr. Ireland serves as a Director or Executive Committee Member at a number of portfolio companies including Golden Foods Siam, PMI/Theodore Alexander, Cherry Valley, Eco, and Go Dang Seafood. Prior to joining Navis, Mr. Ireland was based in Vietnam working in a private equity firm, The Vietnam Fund, as an investment professional. He has also worked as an attorney in both the US and Hong Kong.
Mr. Ireland has been resident as an adult in Asia since 1993 and spent significant portions of his childhood in Taiwan, Japan and Vietnam. He has a JD from the College of William & Mary, a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Virginia and an Advanced Management Diploma from the University of California – Berkeley Haas School of Business.
Mr. Marti is a Senior Partner of Navis based in Singapore and an Investment Committee member. Mr. Marti joined Navis in 2003 where he focuses on origination in Singapore and Indonesia, leads investment teams in making, monitoring and exiting investments, and sits on the boards and/or executive committees of several Navis portfolio companies.
He has contributed to numerous investments including Kings Safetywear, Celebrity Fitness and Eng Kong. Prior to joining Navis, Mr. Marti worked across financial restructuring, venture capital and infrastructure finance with Cypress-Woods, K1 Ventures Limited, Bechtel Enterprises and Suez-Lyonnaise Des Eaux in Asia and the United States. Mr. Marti has been resident in Asia since 1992. He was raised and educated in France and the USA. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, and a Master of Science degree in Materials Science and All-Tech Innovations from Université de Technologie de Compiegne, France; and a MBA in Finance from The Anderson School at UCLA, Los Angeles.
Mr. Latham is a Senior Partner of Navis, a member of the Investment Committee, and a director of Navis Capital Australia.
Mr. Latham joined Navis in 2008 where he sources Australian and New Zealand transactions, leads investment teams in making, monitoring and exiting investments, and sits on the boards and executive committees of Navis portfolio companies including WorldMark, Retail Apparel Group and Blueprint Group.
Mr. Latham has been active in private equity since founding Lend Lease Development Capital. He subsequently founded and built RMB Ventures, where he managed numerous mid-market buyouts and exits. Previously, Mr. Latham worked for The Boston Consulting Group in Sydney and for British Railways (UK).
Mr. Latham holds an MBA from London Business School and a BSc Hons in Mechanical Engineering from Birmingham University. He is also a chartered Engineer and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has founded and served on the boards of a number of Not-For-Profit organisations.
Senior Partner and COO
Mr. Octoman is a Senior Partner and COO of Navis and an Investment Committee member.
Mr. Octoman joined Navis in 2000. He oversees Portfolio activities and originates transactions and works with companies across SE Asia. Mr. Octoman is involved with a number of companies including Alliance Cosmetic, B Medical systems, HGPT Power and the BIG Group.
Prior to joining Navis, Mr. Octoman worked with Price Waterhouse Coopers with a primary focus on capital market transaction and financial due diligence specializing in energy, telecommunications and manufacturing. Mr. Octoman also worked for KPMG in Australia and Canada in Business Advisory Services.
Mr. Octoman is a lifetime resident of Asia, having been raised and educated in Australia. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accountancy from the University of South Australia and is an Australian qualified Chartered Accountant.
Raj Ayadurai is a Partner of Navis and an Investment Committee Member.
Raj joined Navis in 2005. He focuses on Navis' Malaysia Growth Opportunities Fund, a domestically focused private equity fund sponsored by Ekuinas, an arm of the Malaysian Ministry of Finance. Raj also is involved in certain portfolio companies in India including OCL and ITM.
Prior to joining Navis, Mr. Raj worked at the Boston Consulting Group in a range of client service, research & internal management roles. He began his professional career as a structural engineer and worked for consulting engineering firms in the United States and in Malaysia.
Mr. Raj was raised in Malaysia and received his education in Malaysia & the United States. He has an MBA from the University of Chicago and is a CFA charterholder. He also holds Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in Civil & Structural Engineering from the University of Oklahoma.
Ms. Jaithip is a Partner of Navis based in Thailand and an Investment Committee Member. Jaithip joined Navis in 2000 where she focuses on investments in Thailand. Jaithip sits on the boards and/or executive committee of several portfolio companies including Golden Foods Siam, RPS Technologies, Wall Street Thailand and Bangkok Ranch.
Prior to joining Navis, Jaithip was involved in a diverse range of industries including food processing, semiconductors, financial services and media. She has worked with Nava Vickers Ballas Securities, CMIC Finance & Securities Plc and Bangkok Bank Plc.
Jaithip Kanjanapoo was raised and educated in Thailand and has a Bachelor of Science Degree (statistics) and MBA (Finance) from the Chulalongkorn University of Bangkok, Thailand.
Mr. Edwin Fua is a Partner of Navis based in Malaysia and an Investment Committee member. Mr. Fua joined Navis in 2006 and he is focused on deal origination and transactions in Malaysia, Indonesia and increasingly, in Philippines. He has been involved in evaluating investments across South East Asia including in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, India and Australia. His investment experience spans across the consumer, retail, medical, manufacturing, education and the retirement sectors. He also sits on and works closely with the Board of Directors and Executive Committees of several Navis portfolio companies in Malaysia and Australia.
Prior to joining Navis, Mr. Fua was involved in investment research, financial analysis and auditing in JP Morgan and in PwC. Mr Fua was raised in Malaysia and educated in Malaysia and Australia. He holds Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) from Monash University, is a qualified accountant with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and is a Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder from 2009 to 2013.
Agnes Lee is a Partner of Navis based in Hong Kong and an Investment Committee Member. Agnes joined Navis in 2005. She is focused on deal origination and execution of investments in the Greater China region, and has also been involved in add-on acquisitions in Europe and India. Agnes has contributed to various exits including Birdland Hong Kong and Trimco, and she sits on the boards and executive committees of several portfolio companies including Hui Lau Shan and Amazon Papyrus Chemicals.
Prior to joining Navis, Agnes was engaged in public equity portfolio management with Sionna Investment Managers in Canada, covering a diverse range of industries including consumer goods, utilities, telecom services and financial services. Agnes was raised in Hong Kong, and received her education in Hong Kong and Canada. She holds a Bachelor of Science (Honors) Degree in Actuarial & Management Sciences from University of Manitoba. She is also a CFA charterholder.
Mr. Jeyaraj is a Partner of Navis, a member of the Investment Committee, and a director of Navis Capital Australia.
Mr. Jeyaraj joined Navis in 2008 where he sources Australian and New Zealand transactions, leads investment teams in making, monitoring and exiting investments, and sits on the boards and executive committees of several Navis portfolio companies including Retail Apparel Group and Modern Star.
Prior to joining Navis, Mr. Jeyaraj worked at the Boston Consulting Group, with a focus in the pharmaceuticals, media and airline industries. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (First Class Honours) and a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Queensland.
Partner & General Counsel
Rik Muilwijk is General Counsel, a Partner of Navis and an Investment Committee member.
At Navis, Mr. Muilwijk is responsible for legal and regulatory risk management in relation to Navis investments and disposals. He works closely with the investment teams on deal structuring and negotiating investment terms. In addition, he is responsible for the formation of conventional and Shariah compliant Navis investment funds. Mr. Muilwijk acts as the firm's chief compliance officer and oversees regulatory compliance across the Navis group. He sits on the Navis Investment Committee and heads the Legal & Compliance department.
Prior to joining Navis in 2007, Mr. Muilwijk worked as a corporate finance lawyer for eight years. He was a senior associate in the corporate practice group of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and received his initial legal training at the Benelux firm Loyens & Loeff. Mr. Muilwijk worked in Amsterdam and New York.
Mr. Muilwijk has been a resident in Asia since 2007, having been raised in the Netherlands. He holds an MS in risk management from NYU Stern School of Business, an MBA from Rotman School of Management (University of Toronto), an LLM from King's College London (University of London) and a JD from the University of Amsterdam (Vrije Universiteit), completing his elective courses at the University of Paris I Sorbonne.
Partner & General Counsel
Justin Tong is a Partner and the General Counsel of Navis, and an Investment Committee member.
Mr. Tong heads up the firm's Legal and Compliance department and is responsible for its legal, regulatory and risk management functions. He works closely with the investment teams on structuring and negotiating Navis' strategic acquisitions and disposals, and is responsible for Navis' funds formation.
Before joining Navis, Mr. Tong was in private practice for fourteen years. He was a Counsel at Hogan Lovells specialising in private equity and M&A across Southeast Asia with considerable experience in the consumer, life sciences, technology, industrial and energy sectors. Prior to that, he worked for Linklaters in London and Hong Kong.
Mr. Tong is a Singapore citizen and has a MA (Law) from Cambridge University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Oxford Institute of Legal Practice. He is also a member of the Law Society of England and Wales.
Partner - Public Equity
Responsible for day-to-day leadership of the Navigator Fund – Public Equity.
A Swedish citizen, Mr. Olausson was raised in Japan, Switzerland, Sweden, Malaysia and Thailand and has lived in Asia for more than 30 years. Prior to joining Navis, Mr. Olausson was a Director with Deutsche Bank Securities in Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur responsible for equity strategy for Asia ex-Japan, advising institutional investors on country and sector allocation. Previously Mr. Olausson was Head of Equity Research for CLSA Securities in Malaysia and has worked for Credit Agricole Indosuez (Hong Kong and Malaysia), Sun Hung Kai Securities (Singapore) and SEB (Singapore).
